Verify Your Device

Before proceeding, inspect your device. Ensure the packaging is **intact** and there are **no signs of tampering**. Trezor wallets are shipped without pre-installed firmware. If your device appears pre-configured, **DO NOT PROCEED** and contact Trezor Support immediately. Security is paramount.

Your Essential Four Steps to Security

1. Connect and Install

Connect your Trezor device to your computer using the supplied USB cable. Navigate to the official website for Trezor Suite, the desktop application designed to manage your wallet, and download the latest version. Always verify the URL and the software source.

2. Install Firmware

Trezor Suite will prompt you to install the latest official firmware. **Only install firmware through Trezor Suite or wallet.trezor.io.** This process will completely wipe the device, preparing it for a secure setup. Do not interrupt the process.

3. Create Your Wallet

Choose "Create new wallet." The Suite will guide you to set a strong, unique **PIN** directly on your Trezor device. This PIN protects your device from unauthorized physical access. Remember, your PIN is for your eyes only.

4. Backup Your Seed

This is the most critical step. Write down your 12, 18, or 24-word **Recovery Seed** (also known as a mnemonic phrase) on the provided paper backup cards. **Never take a photo of it, store it digitally, or type it into your computer.** Store this physical backup in a safe, secure location, like a safe deposit box or fireproof safe.

Once your seed is backed up and verified, your Trezor is ready to secure your digital assets. You are now the sole custodian of your wealth.
